So here's where I will tell ya that Kristy and I are changing the format of race day. Not because there is anything wrong by any means, but because we are prepared to give something else a go and see how it works.
Now previously we have run the events as 4 heats and the winner of those heats wins the day. I love this way because it rewards consistancy. But we have that in every other race on the calendar, so we are changing it just a little bit..........
We will still reward consistancy, but we will be introducing "Qualifying"
"Qualifying" you say. Yes that's right. We will structure the day so that in the morning we will have practice for half an hour. Then we will start the day with the juniors and so on. Individually setting a lap time from an standing start. This time will be then dictate what your grid position will be for the first race.
Your position when you finish the first race will be your grid position for the next race, and so on throughout the day. A reversed grid will be effective on Race 4. For example if you finished first in Race 3 you will be positioned last in Race 4.
Did I also mention that the track will be double the size, both in length and much wider than in previous years. This will enable us to run all of the mowers in any class in one stand alone heat. Thus because the track is much longer you will get more time in the saddle, and it will enable us to have more heats.
But here is the kicker. The track will be longer but we have also decided that we will not decrease the number of laps to do it in. It is after all a sport. And no training whatsoever goes into being a mower racer. So we want to make the racers work for it. So something along the lines 5 laps should do just nicely. Due to the fact that I predict in "B Class" we may get well over 10 mowers then we will have to split them up. This will not effect the outcomes and will be addressed on race day.
So what do ya think? I will put a message board here to recieve as much feedback as possible before the day in regards to questions and anything that I may have overlooked.
Happy Racing.
